Dealing with Disturbing Inquisitions about Your Future

There are times when your life starts to become messy and blurry and it leaves everyone being undecided about your next move. In such times, the people around you take keen interest in your life and definitely this is a total turn off.

You begin to wonder why they never got interested when you had clearly laid out plans, when you could actually answer the questions without having to actually survive the scare of a near death heart attack. You feel like strangling someone when they ask whether the life you are leading is socially acceptable, but then you remember that unfortunately you can’t do that. So you end up cooking anger in the inside; your head almost exploding and your first intuition is to give a one word answer and tell the inquisitor to move on with whatever the hell they were up to. However, this is not the best way to deal with nagging questions from adults. We’ve been there and we’ve done that with some simple mechanisms for keeping up. First, you have to make it clear that you are with as little knowledge of the subject as the inquisitor is. This will put them off and you’ll probably just get a simple laugh. Alternatively, you could also talk about your friend’s plans and remember to fake it till you own it. If you have totally run out of alternatives, breathe in and out hard then change the subject. As much as this may look weird, it is better than being stuck in the “I don’t knows.”
